American Storm Series

It is hard to slow down to watch a rain storm as we dash to shelter.

I see storms as symphonies.
There's a pattern to them -- introduction, rising drama, resolution
And finally a descent into calm.

Storms begin with wind and sky darkening as clouds arrive.
Rain spatters, then pours down -- obscuring our vision of what lays in the distance.
Lightening cracks and thunder booms. This is the high drama that lasts a while
And seems without end.
At last the storm moves into the distance.
Fading away
Leaving us a sense of relief
Of resolution.

We will miss Earth's storms as our species travels across the stellar void.
They will be come mythic and legendary in the stories of dear old Earth.
